It effectively seals and bonds connection joints in cement building boards, ducting, ventilation, and air conditioning installations.
The Cembloc Cembond Adhesive & Sealant cures by vulcanisation upon exposure to moisture in the atmosphere, offering a skinning time of approximately 15-20 minutes at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. It cures at a rate of approximately 3mm per 24 hours, with the curing rate slowing as the joint depth increases. This adhesive maintains a Shore A hardness of approximately 45-55, a tensile strength at break of 0.6 MPa, and accommodates movement up to ±20%.
Application is straightforward. Ensure that the surfaces to which the Cembond will adhere are clean and free from loose material, standing water, or contaminants. For construction joints, the minimum joint dimensions should be 6mm x 6mm, with the maximum dimensions being 20mm wide by 12mm deep. For deeper joints, a suitable backer rod can be used to reduce depth. Apply the sealant firmly into the joint using an application gun, achieving a good solid fill. The sealant can be tooled within 10 minutes to the required finish and can be painted if necessary.
A single 310ml cartridge is sufficient to seal approximately 10 metres with a 6mm bead or 17.2 metres with a 4.5mm bead. Stored in dry conditions between 5°C and 25°C, the shelf life of the unopened cartridge is 12 months, and when applied correctly, the sealant will perform in excess of 20 years.
